So what’s your schedule looking like this fall?

After hit tour ends, I do a few more shows and the VMAs. [The MTV Video Music Awards.] Then I go to Australia for a promotional tour. I’m so excited. I’ve never been there. Then I’m going back to Europe for a couple of shows. I will take a short break for Thanksgiving. Then I got back on tour with Alicia Keys in Australia.

Why did you decide to do this U.S. 10K Classic?

It’s a great charity. I’m singing the National Anthem. I’m kind of nervous. It’s 7 in the morning! But I’m excited doing an event like this to help out kids.

Do you think you sing better in the morning or at night?

I definitely think I sing better after I’ve been talking awhile and been awake. My voice sounds three octaves deeper in the morning sometimes!

So is a fourth single coming?

Yes! But [the label] hasn’t confirmed what song yet. I think it might be “Freeze” or “Permanent Monday.” Not sure!

INDEFATIGABLE Margaret Porritt, boss of Melbourne's Feather's fashion label, hit the New Zealand ski slopes with gusto during the week.

The designer, who started her label in the 1970s, spent the week heli-skiing in the Eyre Mountains near Queenstown in the South Island. It was not the first time daredevil Porritt, a seasoned skier, has jumped out of helicopters on trips to the slopes.

AMERICAN Idol winner Jordin Sparks will appear on Australian Idol. Sparks will perform and advise this year's crop of wannabe stars.

HOST of Crash Investigation Unit, Damien Walshe-Howling, is gaining increasing recognition for his short film The Bloody Sweet Hit. The film, his debut as a director, recently has been sold to MTV in Italy. The film is also entered in several international short film festivals.

Jordin Sparks knows exactly how the Canadian Idol competitors are feeling.

As the 2007 winner of American Idol, the 18-year-old pop singer can relate to the pressure and the nerves heading into the finals.

"They're obviously doing something right because they're in the Top 4 so that's good," said Sparks, who spoke to idol.ctv.ca shortly before performing on Canadian Idol's Top 4 results show. "I just hope they continue to be themselves because just because you made the Top 4, it doesn't mean your work is over yet. You've got to continue to choose the right songs, make sure the audience still connects with you through the camera, definitely continue to stay themselves and hopefully they'll go far."

Even walking around backstage at the show brought back memories for her, in particular how nerve-wracking elimination nights can be.

"I totally know how they feel. They're probably freaking out right now so yeah, it kind of did bring me back to that," said Sparks.

"It's really cool to see everything. They were telling me for the Top 10 there were only two girls and I was like, 'What??!' That's insane but they wanted the best singers and that's how it should go so that's really awesome."
